Overview
What is Chemical peels?
A chemical peel applies a controlled solution that loosens damaged surface cells, so fresher skin can come through. The type and strength are chosen for your skin type and concern.
Peels are used for uneven tone, pigmentation, congestion, rough texture and some acne marks. A short course usually gives the best result.
Benefits
- Evens tone and softens pigmentation
- Refines texture and pores
- Helps clear congestion
- Strength matched to your skin
Is it right for you?
Often a good fit for
- Pigmentation and sun damage
- Rough or uneven texture
- Congested, oily skin
- Mild acne marks
We may advise waiting, or another option, with
- Pregnancy or nursing, for some peels
- Isotretinoin within the last six months
- Active infection, cold sores or very sensitive skin
Suitability is always confirmed in person, at your consultation.
How it works
01
Assessment
Your skin type is checked, and the peel and strength are chosen.
02
Prep
The skin is cleansed and degreased so the peel works evenly.
03
Peel
The solution is applied for a set time. A warm tingle is normal.
04
Neutralise and protect
The peel is removed, the skin is calmed, and sunscreen is applied.
Before and after
Before your visit
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning for two weeks
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids a few days before, as advised
- Come with clean skin, free of makeup and fragrance
Aftercare
- Let the skin peel naturally and do not pick it
- Moisturise and use SPF 50 every day
- Avoid exfoliants and retinoids for a week
Possible side effects
- Redness, tightness and peeling for a few days
- Temporary darkening, especially in darker skin, if sun care is not followed
- Rarely, irritation or infection
Every risk is explained before you decide. Results vary from person to person.
Chemical peels: your questions
Will my face peel a lot?
It depends on the peel. Lighter peels cause fine flaking, and deeper peels cause more visible peeling for a few days.
Are peels safe for brown skin?
Yes, with the right peel and strength. That is why we assess your skin first.
