Overview
What is Face PRP?
Face PRP uses platelet-rich plasma prepared from a small sample of your own blood. Platelets carry growth factors that support skin repair and renewal.
The plasma is applied across the face, often with microneedling, to improve tone, texture and fine lines. Because it comes from your own body, many people like it as a natural option.
Benefits
- Improves tone and texture
- Softens fine lines
- Helps with acne marks
- Uses your own body
- A natural-looking glow
Is it right for you?
Often a good fit for
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Fine lines
- Acne marks and texture
- People who prefer a treatment from their own body
We may advise waiting, or another option, with
- Blood or platelet disorders, or blood-thinning medicines that cannot be paused
- Active infection or skin condition in the treatment area
- Pregnancy or nursing
- Active cancer or chemotherapy
Suitability is always confirmed in person, at your consultation.
How it works
01
Blood sample
A small sample is taken, like a routine blood test.
02
Prepare
The sample is spun to concentrate the platelets.
03
Apply
PRP is applied across the face with microneedling or fine injections.
04
Calm
The skin is soothed and you are given aftercare.
Before and after
Before your visit
- Eat well and drink plenty of water on the day
- Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory painkillers for a few days, if your doctor agrees
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before
Aftercare
- Do not wash the face for a few hours
- No makeup for 24 hours
- Avoid sun, saunas and the gym for 48 hours
Possible side effects
- Redness and mild swelling for a day
- Bruising where the blood was taken
- Rarely, infection
Every risk is explained before you decide. Results vary from person to person.
Face PRP: your questions
Is PRP the same as a vampire facial?
It is the same idea: your own PRP applied with microneedling to support skin renewal.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually three sessions about a month apart, then maintenance once or twice a year.
