Overview

What is Mole removal?

Mole removal begins with a careful look at the mole. Anything that looks unusual is referred for a medical opinion first, because safety comes before appearance.

Harmless moles that bother you can be removed by the method that suits their size and depth, for a clean, discreet finish. Skin tags and small growths can be treated in the same visit.

Benefits

  • Every mole examined first
  • Method chosen for the mole
  • Quick, done under local numbing
  • Clean, discreet finish

Is it right for you?

Often a good fit for

  • Raised moles that catch on clothing or jewellery
  • Moles you do not like the look of
  • Skin tags and small growths

We may advise waiting, or another option, with

  • Moles that have changed in size, shape or colour, or that bleed, until they are checked by a doctor
  • Active infection in the area
  • Keloid scarring

Suitability is always confirmed in person, at your consultation.

How it works

  1. 01

    Examination

The mole is examined, and anything unusual is referred first.

  2. 02

    Numb

Local anaesthetic makes the procedure comfortable.

  3. 03

    Removal

The mole is removed by the method that best suits it.

  4. 04

    Dressing

The area is dressed, and you are given aftercare instructions.

Before and after

Before your visit

  • Avoid blood-thinning painkillers for a few days, if your doctor agrees
  • Tell us about any changes you have noticed in the mole

Aftercare

  • Keep the area clean and dry
  • Let the scab fall off on its own
  • Use SPF on the area for several months

Possible side effects

  • A small scab for about a week
  • A small mark or change in colour
  • Rarely, infection or the mole growing back

Every risk is explained before you decide. Results vary from person to person.

Mole removal: your questions

Will it leave a scar?

Most leave a small mark that fades over time. We choose the method that gives the cleanest finish for your mole.

Is every mole safe to remove?

Most are, but we examine each one first. Anything unusual is referred for a medical opinion before removal.
